Sandy Johnson is a church visioneering and creative arts consultant. With over twenty years experience with church creative arts, church visioneering, catalyzing ministry and proactive church leadership, she is a natural leader and creative soul. She has produced over 1,000 weekend services and produced/directed over 50 major dramatic and holiday productions. While employed at Willow Creek Community Church, Sandy built, launched and led programming and production ministries for three separate campuses of Willow Creek, including Casa de Luz (the Spanish-speaking congregation), Willow Creek North Shore and Willow Creek McHenry County. She has worked in churches from 600 to 18,000. She's a catalyst for individuals, ministries and churches.
"I have witnessed Sandy Johnson's leadership in several arenas. She truly "gets it" when it comes to forming and building a creative team (out of practically nothing in several settings!) and then filling that team with vision and encouragement. Essentially, that's what Sandy does best, and she has learned boatloads of lessons along the way. She can come alongside a church team with her wisdom and experience in both the worship arts area and also in strategic leadership. She loves a blank flipchart, a team of willing servants, and the opportunity to help clarify mission and set up strategic plans. I highly recommend her to any team looking for an outside perspective from a person who has been in the trenches and has effectively led."

“Sandy Johnson is an artist who knows how to choreograph the components of the creative arts into a dynamic church experience. She understands how to create transformative moments. She is creative, but knows how to lead and manage teams. I know, she did it for me in two multi-site campuses at Willow Creek.”

“I am a better pastor because of Sandy Johnson’s ministry and we are a better church because of what she brought to the table. She came to my team as the Worship Arts Programming Director but also helped move our whole church forward. Not only did she get our Worship Arts Ministry unstuck by implementing deliberate steps, practices, and principles but she also helped me as a Senior Pastor get unstuck by helping capture, clarify and communicate God’s vision. We spent countless hours brainstorming on the whiteboard while she drew out of me God’s vision and best practices for Prairie Lakes Church. If you know that God has more for your church and for your leadership, Sandy could be just the tool you need to get unstuck.”

“So often when it comes to the arts and their use in the local church, the questions that really should be asked are so loaded and politically charged that few are even willing to entertain them...much less address them with clarity, practicality, artistry, and a focus on the opportunity to advance the gospel. Sandy is one of those few people. She communicates as effectively in the senior pastor's office on the whiteboard as she does over a latte with a volunteer musician or technician. I've had the privilege of sitting underneath her leadership and seeing these principles and practices really work as I myself have implemented them. I'd recommend her expertise and giftedness to any church wanting to discover and grow their unique, God-given artistic identity.”

"Sandy was a huge blessing not only to our worship arts ministry but to me as well. She took the time to listen to our staff’s various perspectives on worship arts, seeking to understand the challenges we face and then offering some very specific action steps that we have begun to implement. We are already seeing the impact. I would highly recommend her ministry to any church desiring to become more effective in worship arts."

"Sandy Johnson and The Synergy Box are a life saver. As a Pastor of Worship and the Arts, I struggled with how to convey the value of art in the church and experienced a breakdown in communicating that importance to the senior leadership. Since Sandy has come and worked with our team, there has been a breakthrough in communication, a freedom to move forward in empowering the arts and the artists in our body, and an unleashing of arts in our services that lead to transformational moments. I finally feel we are on all on the same page."

"To be honest, I was surprised by how positive, encouraging, and helpful Sandy’s time with us turned out to be. I not only quickly grew to appreciate her expertise, but also her heart for God and desire to help us develop a more significant worship experience. Sandy brings excellent insight from her broad range of worship experience to the discussion. She challenged my thinking and approach to each Sunday morning. She left our team with practical suggestions for implementation. If you value the weekly worship experience for your congregation and want to see it take some steps forward, I would recommend that you contact Sandy."

"Sandy Johnson came into our ministry at just the right time. Our ministry was stuck in a routine both systematically and creatively. Our worship team was itching for improvements and change, and Sandy helped outline the smaller steps that will bring about the needed and desired change. Sandy is helping us to become unstuck and giving us very practical practices to bring us to the next level. We've already experienced a renewal in our worship ministry. I was experiencing an overload administratively and she advocated for the importance of a full-time arts role. She painted a picture of what that could look like to our senior pastor and council. Sandy was firm but gentle in her approach, encouraging the arts while also challenging the artist and the leadership to pursue a God-given vision. I highly recommend Sandy and look forward to future consults with her!"
